Hello! I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I really enjoyed my road trip but it is always nice to be home again. Now I am preparing for my sister to visit for a few days! I am super excited to show her around Salt Lake City and I think she is even more excited to escape the freezing temps up north.
Here’s what I am loving this week:
The great outdoors:
Coming from the Midwest where the land is really flat, I am always in awe of the scenery in the west. There are mountains and canyons and giant red rock formations. Nature is amazing and being outside is such a wonderful mood boost. It’s a bonus if the sun is shining!
30 Things to Start Doing for Yourself:
Are you setting a new year’s resolution? I am not really into setting one large goal but instead setting a few smaller goals for myself each month. So far my goals for January include reading at least one book, purchasing cold weather gear to donate to those in need, and completing the 30-Day Minimalism Game.
If you are trying to decide what goals to consider for the upcoming year, take a look at this list of 30 positive things you can start doing for yourself. I plan to focus on #6 and #12.
Tea bag organizer:
I drink tea every single day. I have at least one cup in the morning, another in the afternoon, and sometimes one before bed (depending on how full I am). When you have a variety of flavors, it takes up a ton of room to store the tea in individual boxes. I received this awesome tea bag organizer as a gift and find that it saves so much space. Hint: if you alternate the tea bags right side up and upside down in each separator, you can fit more bags!
The Secret of the Happiest People in the World:
Did you know there is a World Happiness Report? Denmark has ranked #1 three times and has been in the top ten every year since the first report was published in 2012. This article discusses the ways the Danish focus on living a happy, cozy life. Many of the things on this list are centered around self-care.
Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic:
I love trying new beverages, especially since it is easier to find gastroparesis-friendly drinks than foods. I am typically drawn to ginger-flavored drinks since ginger is great for digestion so I decided to give this lemon ginger turmeric flavor of apple cider vinegar tonic a try. The vinegar taste is subtle but the lemon gives it a slightly tart kick. It’s really tasty!
Have an amazing New Year’s weekend! If you intend to travel in 2018, be on the look out for next week’s post where I will be sharing my tips for traveling with gastroparesis!
Question of the day:
